Hailee Steinfeld is an American actress and singer. After appearing in a number of short films and television commercials, Steinfeld received her breakthrough role portraying Mattie Ross in True Grit, for which she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role, and the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Thereafter, she appeared in Ender’s Game, Romeo & Juliet, Begin Again, 3 Days to Kill and most recently she starred as Nadine in the coming-of-age film The Edge of Seventeen for which she received critical acclaim.
Steinfeld debuted her singing voice portraying Emily Junk in Pitch Perfect 2 and later released a cover version of “Flashlight”, the song she sang in the film. In addition to her acting and singing careers, Steinfeld also has done modeling work; she was hired as the face of Miu Miu in 2011, shortly after True Grit was released.
