Zooey Deschanel was born and raised in the US where she pursued her passions and talents in acting, singing and songwriting. She appeared in her very first film back in 1999 in Mumford and the very next year she landed another acting job in Almost Famous. However, Zooey found that she was able to bring out her best performances in comedic roles such as Elf and Yes Man whilst also taking up the more dramatic characters, like the one she portrayed in Manic, but less frequently. She has also received an Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominations for her role in the New Girl series. Prior to her acting career, Zooey was a part of a jazz band where she would sing and play a ton of different musical instruments.
